Mic check... is this on... can you hear me?

So Sunday we ended up having some crazy reverb issues but we made it! We have an in ear monitor system that we use to hear and everything sounded great to us. What happened to us can easily be compared to our walk with Christ. When we are focused and going after Him with everything that we are, our surroundings doesn't matter. Thats exactly what was going on sunday. We were focused and all we knew was that it sounded fine. We were in tune with each other so we had no idea what was going on with everyone else. In the same way we MUST keep our focus on God. Smith Wigglesworth said he is not moved by what his eyes see. We cannot be moved by our circumstances. If we are tuned into what the Father is speaking to us nothing else is going to matter.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 (The Message)

17-19Though the cherry trees don't blossom
and the strawberries don't ripen,
Though the apples are worm-eaten
and the wheat fields stunted,
Though the sheep pens are sheepless
and the cattle barns empty,
I'm singing joyful praise to God.
I'm turning cartwheels of joy to my Savior God.
Counting on God's Rule to prevail,
I take heart and gain strength.
I run like a deer.
I feel like I'm king of the mountain!

Though our surroundings may seem like they are crashing in im going to sing joyfully, im going to turn cartwheels of joy to my Savior!!!!

Does it really say that?

Why raise our hands? Why clap? Why sing? Dancing... Say what? Why Why Why?? There are always questions surrounding worship. For years I heard a pastor say "you can get excited for football but not for God?" And I never really thought about it until I really started getting excited about God, excited about worship! This saying is so true. The most quiet reserved man or woman for that matter in church can be one of the craziest sports fans around. They yell, scream, do the wave... and even paint there body. Im not asking anyone to come with their body painted but I am asking why can you be so excited about "your" team that really isn't that good anyway and you may know all the stats but don't know any one on the team but not about Jesus our Savior!! How about God who is the creator of all. He has no beginning or end. There have been times in all our lives where we have been more excited about something else besides God, but as we realize it we need to learn to refocus.
Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! Ps 47:1
Let them praise His name with dancing, making melody to Him with tambourine and lyre!
Ps 149:3
Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts. Ps 33:3
Yes these are from the bible! Its ok. You are free, you have been set free. Worship with all your heart! I encourage you to try something new in this area. If your not a clapper, try it. Maybe you have thought about raising your hands, go for it!! And maybe, just maybe you have felt like moving just a little. You know you have felt like dancing!! Why not, what have we got to loose? Dance with all your might!

Wheres your worship?

What do you worship? We all have something that has our affection or something that consumes us. It could be our job, our image, our children or spouse. It could even be sports, or it could even be ministry! These are all great things that bring enjoyment and arent wrong but do we worship them more than our creator? Do we get more enjoyment out of sports center that we do God? We were created to worship. Gods design was for us to worship Him but He has given us the choice to choose if we are going to give it to Him or some where else. It starts in the heart. We have to get our hearts right before Him. We have to realize all we do is an act of worship. I dont have to be playing my guitar and singing to be worshiping. When I tithe it is worship to the Father. When go to work it can be an act of worship. Doing the dishes can be an act of worship. Let us live a life of worship to God. Lets be joyful. Jesus is something to be excited about. Salvation is really something to be excited about!! "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Col 3:17

The beginning

We are in a new season at Life Church Franklin and I am extremely excited! We need to expect the unexpected! I want to use this blog to share about worship and what it means to me. To let you know about the songs we are playing and just to keep you up to date with all that is going on with the LC worship team.
